What to Expect After Your First SoftWave Therapy Session & Understanding the SoftWave Therapy Journey at Natural Way Chiropractic

Published May 22nd, 2025 by Natural Way Chiropractic

If you’ve just completed your first SoftWave Tissue Regeneration Therapy session—or you’re considering getting started—you likely have some questions:

  • How will I feel after the first treatment?

  • What’s happening inside my body?

  • How long will it take to see results?

  • What does the full care plan look like?

At Natural Way Chiropractic, Dr. Kale Matovich and his team are here to guide you every step of the way. Below, we’ll walk you through what to expect after your first session, how SoftWave Therapy works over time, and what your healing journey will look like from start to finish.

What Happens After Your First SoftWave Session?

1. Immediate Response

Many patients notice a decrease in pain, increased mobility, or improved comfort right after their very first session. These effects may be subtle at first—or in some cases, quite noticeable.

You may experience:

  • Reduced stiffness or tightness

  • Improved range of motion

  • A lighter, looser feeling in the treated area

  • Less sharp or aching pain

These responses occur as SoftWave's broad focused energy wave begins stimulating a cascade of healing activity in the targeted tissues.

2. Cellular Activation in Progress

While symptom relief is exciting, the true magic of SoftWave happens under the surface—at the cellular and tissue level. After your first treatment, your body begins:

  • Activating resident stem cells to repair and rebuild tissue

  • Improving blood flow through angiogenesis (new blood vessel formation)

  • Reducing inflammation and clearing out senescent cells

  • Triggering long-term tissue remodeling and regeneration

These internal processes continue to unfold for days and even weeks following your session.

The Full SoftWave Therapy Journey: What to Expect

Phase 1: Discovery & Mapping (Session 1)

Your first visit includes an introductory mapping session where we locate “hot spots” of inflammation, pain, or dysfunction. This identifies whether you're a good candidate for SoftWave and helps us customize your care plan.

Phase 2: Initial Activation (Weeks 1–2)

You begin a series of SoftWave sessions, typically 1–2 per week, based on your condition and goals. During this stage, we’re stimulating healing, calming inflammation, and increasing blood flow to the affected area.

You may experience:

  • Decreased pain

  • Improved flexibility

  • More comfort with movement

Phase 3: Repair & Regeneration (Weeks 3–6)

This is where deeper healing begins. Your body's stem cells are actively working, and your tissues begin regenerating and remodeling.

Many patients report:

  • Increased strength and stability

  • Longer-lasting relief between sessions

  • Returning to activities that were previously painful

Phase 4: Stabilization & Sustainability (Weeks 6–8+)

Your care plan is tailored to build long-term results. By the end of the program, you’ve laid the foundation for sustained joint, tissue, and nerve health.

We’ll evaluate:

  • Functional improvements

  • Reduced reliance on medications or braces

  • Goals achieved and long-term plan recommendations

How Long Do Results Last?

Many patients experience continued healing for 12 weeks + after their final session. Why?

Because SoftWave has activated a biological repair process that continues working even after the therapy ends. Many of our patients notice improvements for weeks and months while some of our patients even report one year plus of pain relief following completion of their SoftWave Therapy care program!

Duration of results varies depending on:

  • The severity of your condition

  • Your activity level and occupation

  • Existing inflammation or chronic disease

  • Lifestyle factors like hydration, mobility, and fitness

Do I Need Follow-Up or “Tune-Up” Sessions?

Some patients benefit from occasional maintenance or booster sessions, especially if they:

  • Have chronic arthritis or degenerative conditions

  • Live active or physically demanding lifestyles

  • Are seeking to avoid surgery or repeated injections

  • Want to maintain peak performance and joint health

Dr. Kale Matovich typically recommends tune-ups every 4 to 12 weeks, based on your needs and goals.
